A trilogy of alchemy-themed titles from the “Atelier” series, notable for its gradually deteriorating Dusk world and the intriguing characters who inhabit it. The Dusk world is richly depicted, thanks to Hidari’s character designs.
Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk
The fourteenth installment of the main Atelier Trilogy is Atelier Ayesha. It is the fourth game released for the PlayStation 3, though it takes place in a completely different universe than the Arland Series. It is the first game in the Trilogy of Alchemy and it serves as a prequel to Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky.
The first title in the Dusk Trilogy is set in Dusk’s ruined land. Ayesha, a young herbalist, embarks on an adventure to find her missing sister Nio and discover the secrets of alchemy and the glowing flowers.
Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk Plus, an updated port, was released in Japan on December 25, 2019, on Nintendo Switch, and in the US and Europe on January 14, 2020. The plot revolves around the main character Ayesha’s quest to find a way to save her younger sister, Nio. The game has ten different endings that are unlocked based on the player’s actions and choices.
The story takes place in a remote land (known as Ground/Land of Dusk in the game’s Japanese title). The land does not have a single shared government but is still united. This region was once home to a sophisticated civilization, and the world prospered greatly thanks to the art of alchemy. However, as time passed, the art of alchemy was lost, and civilization declined. However, the land is still littered with civilization ruins.
The main character, Ayesha Altugle, is a girl living in a remote workshop, making a living by creating medicine. After her grandfather passed away and her younger sister Nio went missing, she lives alone together with her pet, the cow Pana. After one day seeing a ghost-like appearance of her missing sister in the ruin Altugle Herb Garden and encountering the alchemist Keithgriff Hazeldine, Ayesha sets out on a journey together with Pana to find a way to save her sister.
Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky
Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. The Plus version was later re-released under the title Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky DX and was released on December 25, 2019, in Japan for Nintendo Switch, and on January 14, 2020, in the United States and Europe.
The sequel to the Dusk trilogy. Escha, a girl interested in ancient alchemy, and Logy, a boy interested in modern alchemy, meet and become engrossed in the mystery of the “Dusk.” Learn the truth as Escha or Logy to put the puzzle pieces together.
The story of the game takes place four years after the events of Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk, in a faraway place west of the Twilight Land. This place was in the past very prosperous thanks to the art of alchemy. To avert the “End of Dusk,” the people of the land have rediscovered the lost art of alchemy and focused their energies on reviving it.
The story is set in the remote town of Colseit, where a development project is underway. Colseit was created as a result of a desire for a ruin known as “The Unexplored Ruin,” which floats in the sky and has never been entered.
The two main protagonists are a young man named Logix “Logy” Fiscario, an alchemist who left his old life in The Center due to unfortunate circumstances and traveled to Colseit to participate in a development project, and a girl named Escha Malier, another young alchemist who lives in that town. They are both officially assigned to the development team on the same day, and the two promise to use alchemy to help the development team fully. They will fumble through their assigned tasks while deepening their relationships with those around them. The goal of the game and the focus of the plot will gradually shift to the construction of an airship capable of reaching and exploring The Unexplored Ruin. One of the most significant issues is the engine, which causes difficulties to be overcome and Logy’s past to be revealed.
Giant flowers begin to bloom in the area where the ruin once stood. Escha and Logy learn more about Flameu after returning to Colseit. Logy realizes there could be mistakes in Flameu’s research that are severe enough to harm the land; meanwhile, Escha realizes that she wants to make Flameu happy and save her. They discover that Flameu is in pain as the ruin’s primary managing body. Escha and Logy decide to go to the “Fallen Sky Ruin” together to save Flameu, along with Nio, a girl who can hear Flameu’s voice even when she is not nearby, and Clone, Flameu’s old friend.
Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea
Atelier Shallie Plus, an improved port, was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with the US and European releases following on January 14, 2020. The third installment of the Dusk trilogy. Shallistera is burdened with a mission, and Shallotte, a girl with lofty goals, band together to discover the secret of the “Dusk” in order to realize their own ambitions. Explore as Shallistera or Shallotte to learn the full story of “Dusk.”
Atelier Shallie is set ten years after the events of Atelier Ayesha and six years after the events of Atelier Escha & Logy.
